Adapted Water Ski Program
Click here to view pictures from the latest waterski event. The RIC Adapted Water Ski Program provides physically disabled individuals with the opportunity to water ski and enjoy water sports. Opportunities are provided for sit and stand up skiers. The program is sponsored by Polaris Industries, Twin Lakes Marina, Nielson Enterprises, the Kostas Z Foundation, Aquanut Water Shows, and the Village of Twin Lakes. Sit skis are provided for beginning to experienced skiers. The Freedom Sit Ski provides the beginning skier with the opportunity to begin with the ski rope in a starting block and progressing to holding the ski rope in hand at the start. A Freedom Sit Ski with outriggers is provided for the very beginning skier. The outriggers make the sit ski almost impossible to tip over. Comp 1 Sit Skis are available for the experienced skier who is able to start with the ski rope in their hand and are able to go in and out of the wake. Stand up skiers begin skiing from a boom. The boom is a long pole attached to the side of the boat. The boom allows the skier to receive direction from an instructor in the boat. It also provides the skier with a better opportunity for success. As a skier progresses, they will move to the back of the boat and learn deep water skiing, which will allow them to cross the wake. The RIC Adapted Ski Program is hosted at Lance Park in Twin Lakes, WI. Lance Park is the show site for the famous Aquanut Water Shows. The Aquanut water ski team helps at the clinic each year providing; boats, boat drivers and volunteers. The Aquanuts have a great deal of ski experience and together with the volunteers from RIC assure everyone that they will have success skiing.
